Exercise 10

Magistrate's Book of the town of Krakow (Scabinalia Cracoviensia) from 1300-1375

The oldest remaining Krakow town record book. It contains entries of the court magistrate concerning disputes, as well as entries referring to public matters (among others, the results of the elections of the new council are noted a few times).

Also worth attention is the appearance of the record book, due to the fact that it was written on parchment, carefully lined (on the edges of the sheets, holes made to mark the lines are visible). Lower quality parchment was probably used for the record book as certain sheets have varying thickness, and many of them are damaged (holes in the middle, defects on the edges).
