Reuse of information, privacy policy and cookies

Reusing public sector information accessible at THE Old writing website

Materials presented in the service (i.e. digital copies of archival materials from the resources of the National Archives in Krakow, together with descriptions) are accessible:

  • without charge for reuse in the understanding of the Law from 25 February 2016 concerning the reuse of public sector information (Journal of Laws from 2016 pos. 352) and without the need for an application, unless the submittal of an application is in the interests of the user, in accordance with the Law concerning the reuse of public sector information,
  • unconditionally in the understanding of the Law concerning the reuse of public sector information, unless copyright law requires otherwise.

    Restrictions regarding reuse are regulated in art. 6 of the Law from 25 February 2016 concerning the reuse of public sector information. In the event of reuse of the materials presented in the dawnepismo.ank.gov.pl service, it is recommended to provide information about the source and time for obtaining information from the service (name of the archives, archival fund, reference number, link to the scan, time of access). Detailed conditions for accessing original archival materials, searching for information and carrying out reprography services by the National Archives in Krakow, including those for the reuse of materials, are governed by separate regulations.
     

Personal data protection policy of the Old Writing website

In accordance with article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016 (Official Journal of the European Union, L 119, 4 May), hereinafter referred to as the "GDPR", we would like to inform you that:
1. the administrator of personal data provided by the user for contact purposes or to order the newsletter of the Old Writing website, and collected in the Archives is the National Archives in Krakow, with its registered office in Krakow, ul. Sienna 16, 30-960, Krakow, tel. +48 12 422 40 94, e-mail: sekretariat@ank.gov.pl,
2. in matters related to the processing of the user’s personal data by the Archives and the exercising of rights related to this processing, please contact the Archives’ Data Protection Officer - tel. +48 12 422 40 94 (ext. 29) or e-mail: iod@ank.gov.pl,
3. personal data provided by the user for contact purposes or to subscribe to the Old Writing internet newsletter is collected and processed by the Archives, pursuant to article 6, paragraph 1, point ‘e’ of the GDPR solely for the purposes of replying to queries or providing newsletter services,
4. personal data processed by the Archives for the purposes of the purposes set out above:
• may only be made available to legally authorised recipients,
• will not be subject to profiling,
• will not be transferred to a third country or an international organisation;
5. The user, at any time, has the right:
• access their data and receive a copy of it,
• rectify, limit its processing or delete personal data in cases where data processing is not in compliance with legal provisions,
• withdraw consent for the processing of personal data,
• raise objections to the processing of personal data,
• lodge a complaint with the President of the Office for the Protection of Personal Data (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193, Warsaw)
6. personal data provided by the user for contact purposes will be processed by the Archives for the period necessary to answer the query, as well as the period of record keeping stipulated by Polish Law
7. personal data provided by the user subscribing to the Old Writing website’s newsletter will be processed by the Archives for the period of subscription to this newsletter

Privacy policy and cookies

  1. The website uses cookies to improve the service.
  2. The Service does not collect any information automatically, with the exception of information contained in cookies.
  3. Cookies represent IT data, in particular text files, which are stored in the Service User's end appliance and which are designated for use with the Service's website. Cookies usually contain the name of the Internet page from which they come, the time of storage on the end appliance and a unique number.
  4. The body which places cookies on the Service User's end appliance and also is able to access them is the Service operator: the National Archives in Krakow with its head office at 30-960 Kraków, ul. Sienna 16.
  5. Cookies are used for creating statistics which help us to understand how the Service User uses the website, which allows the structure and content to be improved.
  6. The Service uses two basic types of cookies: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies. “Session” cookies are temporary files, which are stored in the User's appliance until the User logs out, leaves the website or turns off the browser. “Persistent” cookies are stored in the User's appliance for a time defined in the parameters of the cookies files or until the User removes them.
  7. The Service uses “efficiency” cookies, enabling the collection of information about the usage of the Service's website.
  8. In many cases, browsers are set to allow the storage of cookies in the User's end appliance. Users of the Service may carry out changes in the settings concerning cookies. These settings may be changed in such a way as to automatically block cookies in browsers or to inform about each placement in the Service User's appliance.   9. The Service operator informs that restricting the use of cookies may affect some functionalities available on the Service's website.
